Virgin Games wanted to attract new players and broaden its audience. The challenge: Squid Game was the most-watched Netflix show and a cultural icon, but directly using its name or visuals would be considered child appealing and non-compliant. The opportunity: season 3 was launching in June 2025. My idea was to let Netflix advertise Squid Game for us — and instead create ads that felt inspired by its universe without ever mentioning it.
